Michelle & Robert

On Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of working with a lovely 6-year-old, Michelle, and her somewhat camera-shy but super cute two-year-old brother, Robert. It was a fun and challenging session that reminded me a bit of working with my own two girls. I think we ended up with some great shots that I hope their mom and dad will enjoy. Here's a little peek at Michelle and Robert.

Riverview High Grads

I can't believe it's the time already, but the grads of 2011 are beginning to get grad photos done. My cousin, Jessica, is graduating this year and I was thrilled to be able to do her grad photos for her. She brought along two of her friends, Hillary and Becca, and some of their family and we had a really fun grad session. We began with studio style shots with the girls in their gowns, then moved outside to get a few more shots with gowns. Then we did some senior shots with the girls in street clothes, which were really fun. I love the way these photos are coming out so far and I can't wait to get to work on the rest. Here's a little peek at the three lovely grads. Hope you enjoy, ladies! The rest will be done soon.

Felicia & Brad

Yesterday was a beautiful mid-September afternoon. It was warm, sunny, calm and beautiful -basically, the perfect day for a photo session. I was happy to go out and meet up with Felicia and Brad, who are a quiet and sweet young couple. I had a lot of fun getting to know them a bit and capturing some sweet moments between the two of them. Here are a few of the shots so far.

Little Miss Claire

Last night I had the opportunity to play with a very sweet 8-day-old baby named Claire. She was tiny, beautiful, and the perfect photo subject. She was a wonderful sleeper and loved being held and soothed. What she didn't love quite as much was being naked in front of the camera. But really, who could blame her? With a bit of time and patience, and a lot of cooperation from little Miss Claire, we were able to get some sweet shots of her. Here are a few favorites so far.

Dean & Alexandria

On Sunday evening I went out for a session with Dean and Alexandria. This was the second time I have worked with these two, as I had done a family session with them, their two sisters, their mom and their dad a few months back. They are both adorable and I was very happy to work with them again. We headed out to explore the area around the trains since Dean is practically an expert about all things train related - and at four years old! It ended up being a very educational session for me, with Dean teaching me plenty of things about trains that I never knew before. Alexandria wasn't very interested in the trains, but she was definitely a pleasure to photograph. Just look at her big brown eyes! I had a really fun time with these two (and their mommy!) and I cannot wait to do a session with their two sisters in a couple of weeks. Until then, here's a couple of shots of Dean and Alexandria.

Ben & Daniel

Ready for some more cute twins? These two boys, Ben and Daniel, are about to celebrate their third birthday and are absolutely adorable. They (and their mom and dad) were one of my first clients ever. I was lucky enough to take their family photos at Christmas time last year, so I knew how much fun they are to photograph. That's why I was thrilled when their mom contacted me to take their birthday photos.
I went out yesterday morning and met them at their grandparents' gorgeous home to have some fun. I followed them around, snapping as they explored the yard, swang, ran and played. We even pulled out some balloons for some extra fun, which both of the boys seemed to enjoy. Here is a little look at the almost three-year-olds, Ben and Daniel.

Mia & Kye

Mia and Kye are the sweet twins of my friend, Laura, and her husband, Matt. The twins recently turned two, so we went out early yesterday morning to capture a few birthday photos. It was a pretty chilly morning, which made poor little Mia shiver, but these two were troopers. We worked quickly and got some great shots, then let the kids go and get warmed up. Here's a little peek at these two little cuties as they turn two.

Murph and Ryan's Wedding

When my friend, Murph (aka Melissa), asked me to photograph her wedding, my immediate response was no. I laughed and told her that I had no experience in shooting weddings. To my surprise, she would not take no for an answer. She begged me to consider it and so I agreed I would do that much. Over the next few days and weeks she assured me that I could do everything that she needed me to do and that she would not disown me as a friend if I ruined all of her wedding photos. After a lot of thought, I reluctantly agreed to do this for her. I knew I had months and months to practice and felt like I may be able to give her what she wanted.
Well the months flew by and all of a sudden it was time for Murph and Ryan's wedding. Just as I was beginning to accept that I was about to shoot my first wedding and feeling like I may be able to do it with some small success, this funny little thing happened - I started hearing about this thing called Earl. Over the next few days I began to truly hate Earl. He was a hurricane that was headed our way, who promised to bring us high winds and extreme amounts of rain, which would no doubt end in power outages. I began to panic. Much to my surprise, the lovely bride did not panic in the least. She still insisted that we would be just fine and that I need not worry. I wanted to believe that she was right, but I was having a very hard time doing so.
Luckily for everyone, the lovely bride WAS right. We began the day at a salon, where the rain began to fall and the wind began to pick up. I was panicing. Murph was still calm. Amazing, I thought. How can she be so calm? We headed back to Hopewell Hill to take photos before the ceremony. The rain picked up and the wind blew harder. I was still panicing. Murph was still calm. We then proceeded to the ceremony where the very beautiful bride and her new husband had a wonderful ceremony and became husband and wife. And then the amazing thing happened. The ceremony was over, Murph and Ryan were introduced as husband and wife, and they walked down the aisle together. They opened the church doors and I saw no rain. I heard no wind. It was suddenly calm and beautiful outside. Murph had been right all along. Earl was no match for these two.
Murph and Ryan happily spent the rest of their day surrounded by family and friends - laughing, eating, and dancing. Every little detail was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time. My wish for them is that that day was just the beginning of a very happy married life together.
Finally, here is a tiny peek at some of the many, many photos I took of my beautiful friend, Murph, and her new husband, Ryan.

Five Cute Cousins

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous going into this session. I worried that with five young children I would never be able to get a good shot of everyone together, but these kids definitely proved me wrong. They were so much fun! Each of them had their own unique and wonderful personality and they all kept me laughing throughout the session. They really made it very easy to get some great shots. Here's just a little peek at some of the fun I had with these five sweet kids.
